David Caruso – Full Biography
David Caruso was born on January 7, 1956, in Queens, New York City, USA. He began his career in the late 1970s with small roles in films and television, gradually building experience through supporting performances.
Caruso’s performance in NYPD Blue was widely praised and helped define the gritty, realistic tone of the series. His portrayal earned him a Golden Globe Award and an Emmy nomination, making him one of the standout actors of early 1990s television.
Although his time on the show was relatively short, his character played a crucial role in establishing the series’ success and legacy.Before his breakthrough, he appeared in films such as An Officer and a Gentleman and First Blood. After years of minor roles, he gained major recognition in 1993 when he was cast as Detective John Kelly in NYPD Blue.
Despite the show’s success, Caruso left after the first season to pursue a film career.
